The Fort Phil Kearny Massacre, also known as the Fetterman Fight of 1866, was a key battle of Red Cloud’s War in which a large U.S. Army detachment was lured into an ambush and annihilated by Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors near Fort Phil Kearny in present-day Wyoming.
