The Palm Sunday Massacre, more formally known as the Ponce massacre, was a 1937 incident in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in which police opened fire on a peaceful Nationalist Party march, killing and wounding dozens and becoming a pivotal event in the island’s political and colonial history.
