The Northwest Angle Treaty, formally known as Treaty 3, is an 1873 agreement between the Canadian government and several Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) First Nations that ceded vast Indigenous territories in what is now northwestern Ontario and eastern Manitoba in exchange for reserves, annuities, and other promises.
